From
all of us at LightStream, We wish you a Merry Christmas,
Happy Hanukkah!

May
the peaceful divinity of the season make us aware of that
divinity within all of us and carry it through the
year. Let us remember that Christ did not have to
come here, but chose to do so to help us understand love
and oneness. We, as part of the LightStream Network
have also chosen to come and work together. We are
humbled and inspired to carry on with the message of love
brought to us by such teachers as Christ, Buddha and the
Dalai Lama. With peace, love and hope!!
May
your Holiday Season be filled with Blessings and Joy!!

May
you have a blessed Season!! Here are a couple of
Christmas offerings:
THE
CANDLE OF THE SOUL
By Clara Bell Thurston
Our very hearts are tipped with flame,
and shine like candles in His name!
A candle's but a simple thing.
It starts with just a bit of string!
Yet dipped and dipped with patient hand,
It gathers wax upon the strand,
Until, complete and snowy white,
It fills the room with lovely light.
Life seems so like that bit of string,
Each deed we do a simple thing.
Yet, day by day if on life's strand,
We work with patient heart and hand,
It gathers joy, makes dark days bright,
And gives at last a lovely light!
ANGELS
By Elizabeth Searle Lamb
Watch for Angels now
As the Christmas Season gathers its momentum,
Angels are near us at this time!
Listen for a voice of special sweetness,
A most endearing sound.
Be aware of the touch of an Angel wing, feathery soft.
Angels come close but do not always let us see their
shapes.
They remain nearly invisible,
But once in a while a shadow touches.
And once in a while a note of singing comes.
Once in a while . . . the faintest touch!
Angels are a special part of Christmas.
Watch for them!

The
Healing of the Heart of Ebeneezer Scrooge
Joy for the world,
Scrooge's heart was healed!
Let the laws of greed be repealed,
And the ten octaves of love now be revealed!*
On Friday the 15th of December, 2000, I was honored to be
present in Herberger Studio in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.
Each Christmas KTAR Radio does a live rendition of
Dickens' inimitable Christmas Carol. This year two persons
of national prominence assisted by playing roles. The one
you will recognize for sure is Hugh Downs. He served as
the voice for the 3rd Ghost, Christmas Yet to Come. You
may also recognize Cindy McCain, wife of Senator John
McCain, who read the part of Peg. A third well known you
might recognize is Tom Chambers of the Phoenix Suns. There
was much humor and pleasure in the audience as this
'massively tall' human being played the role of the 2nd
Ghost, Christmas Present. As he looked "down"
upon Scrooge, it did seem like a voice from Heaven was
delivering him a message! Mayor Skip Rimsza took time off
from civic responsibilities to deliver the huge turkey to
the Cratchits in the role of the Delivery Boy. The
parts of the production where Scrooge was transformed were
very meaningful to me, and I hope to pass that gift to you
through these Thoughts and Notes.
I found myself looking upon this enactment of Dickens'
work through the eyes of my "therapist self"
which has helped others for about 40 years now. I
noted that Ebeneezer Scrooge had developed a
"hardened heart" through holding unhealed trauma
and living his daily business dominated life upon that
"brokenness." It is possible that Scrooge's
"Bah, Humbug" is one of the most famous defense
mechanisms in history. By being "all defense"
and all fear and greed, he had ended up "spiritually
and emotionally broke," but he was materially well
endowed. We are reminded of the rich young ruler who asked
Jesus what he must do to enter the kingdom. As Jesus saw
how attached he was to his wealth, he gave the young ruler
a formula for detachment, and the young ruler went away
very sad, "for he was a man of great wealth."
Scrooge's transformation was activated and brought about
through "dreamwork," (Freud, Jung, Perls and
many others in our day) and "messages from
Spirit," presented as "Ghosts," in Dickens'
language. The dreamwork provided clarity of self, true
self awareness, an attitude of love and self forgiveness
and forgiveness of others. In terms of our modern
day "Course in Miracles," Scrooge "overcame
the belief in separation," and he redecided
(redecision therapy) and chose to see himself as One with
Others, One with All Creation. His beliefs in lack,
separateness, loss, lovelessness, and the impossibility of
healing his broken heart, are transformed before our very
eyes. He learned that we are "not our traumas."
We have traumas, but they are not our essence. We can view
our wounds as teachers rather than enemies. They block us
until healed. They can be healed. All of these
things Scrooge encountered in his "visits with the
Ghosts." What an inspirational moment in human
history! The "holy instant," the
"epiphany," the Phoenix "Sun of
Righteousness" arising with healing in its wings,
inspired us all once again. Some, perhaps, for the first
time. Jesus told Nicodemus, another wealthy man,
"You must be born again." The "Ghosts"
told Scrooge that he could be born again, i.e., his broken
heart could be healed through new decisions, 100%
intention and new actions out of a healed, generous,
loving heart. In another writing we can explore the
marvelous processes and details of how Scrooge was
healed. For now, let us express gratitude that
Dickens was "suffering from writer's block" on a
novel, and his miracle was to overcome it by writing A
Christmas Carol in three weeks. Many people
experience more pain and experience it more intensely
around Christmastime. There is often much perplexity
about why this strange paradox is as it is. Sondra
Ray's wonderful axiom is helpful here. She writes:
"Love brings up everything that is unlike
itself."
Indeed! December is the month when Americans as a culture
are "pounded with more messages about love" than
any other time of year. Is it any wonder in our dualistic
consciousness that more materialism and negativity also
comes right along with it? Let it be OK that that is so,
and let us see it as a great opportunity for growth. Let
us change our minds and heal our hearts as did Mr.
Scrooge. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how
intimidated or fearful we are by the potential experiences
involved in healing ourselves, proceed anyway. Share
anyway. Give anyway. Speak to one who is not
speaking to you. Work with this affirmation: "A Spark
of the Divine Creator of All Universes resides within me.
THAT is who I am. I am Whole, Complete, Free, Abundant,
Pressed Down, Flowing Over. I teach only love, for
that is what I AM. I AM the best Christmas gift anyone
could ever receive."
As a Nation we have just had a long, grueling lesson about
the value of "just one vote." The same applies
to "just one healed heart." The healing of the
"just one broken heart of Ebeneezer Scrooge" has
helped and inspired millions, perhaps billions of people
by now. Yours is just as important and valuable as his.
Remember Jesus and the single sparrow. Your gift
this Christmas can be your own healed heart, or, the
healed heart of one you care so much about, usually the
healings come in pairs. "No one is healed
alone." Scrooge's healing spread everywhere!
So, I am grateful that Thom Kelley was once an engineer at
KTAR, that he knew about this annual event and that he saw
to it that I was a guest in the audience as these
celebrities generously shared their talents and their love
by giving the audience of KTAR this wonderful Christmas
gift. Hugh Downs helped to lift us all Up! In German-
American language, "Yah! Herberger!"

Soldier's
Christmas
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A
ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.
I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO
SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.
I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL,
NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.
NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE
WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.
WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER
THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND.
FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I
FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.
THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE
FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.
THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW
I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.
WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP
ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?
I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR
LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.
SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND
GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.
THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE
OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.
I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD
CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.
THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY
KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY.
THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;
I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY
GOD MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS
THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T
CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.
I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH
SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.
I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK NIGHT, THIS
GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT.
THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL
IS SECURE."
ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD
NIGHT."
This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa,
Japan.
Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to
our U.S. service men and women for our being able to
celebrate these festivities. (Thanks

To everyone have
a very Merry Christmas. I wish you and you're
family all the blessings that this magical time
brings. And lets remember this year that
the spirit of Christmas is not just about decorating
trees, but decorating lives..... With much love,
