A Tree fell on a local home recently. Let’s use that as an example of what it will cost you as a home owner. Since none of the worker we hired lived within or had their business within Burnettown City Limits, their License fees would be double. (Non-Resident Rate - Pg. 8 Burnettown Lic. Code) Note: workers hired were from the Horse Creek / Midland Valley Area!! Note: Fees are based on the first $2,000 of business.
Thanks to Burnettown Council and Mayor Benson the
cost of this job would cost you at extra $670.00!!! To quote Councilman Wayne New, “We do not want to pass property taxes but we may have to in the future. It is already on the books and we do not enforce it.” (Town Meeting March 28th, 2005) Mayor Benson and Councilman New said at the Town Forum May 12 that, “they did not feel the voters should have the right to vote on the Business License tax.” When ask why, their response was, “we know the voters will vote against it.” Our troops are fighting in Iraq so that the people there can have the right to vote. Yet at home our Town Council wants to deny you that right. Thank God our forefathers left us provision’s in the law, that allows us to put the council in place when they refuse to listen to the will of the citizens. We ask you join us in signing the petitions, that will force the council to allow you to vote. We feel you the voter should decide what is best for you and your family!! We ask you join us in saying, “No to Burnettown Business License!!” |
