Dannion
Brinkley is the international best selling author of, Saved By The
Light and At Peace In The Light. Dannion is well
known for his extraordinary life story. His ability to survive against
seemingly impossible odds includes enduring two lightning strikes,
open-heart surgery, brain surgery and a massive grand mal seizure. After
three NDEs (near death experiences) many concur that Brinkley is a ‘walking
miracle’. His books, lecture tours and workshops have literally
transformed the consciousness of audiences the world over. Brinkley has
taught millions not to fear the presently held concept of dying. For as a
result of his journeys to the ‘other side’ and back again, Dannion brings to
the forefront the wondrous truth that there is indeed no such thing as
death. In reaching out to the public all around the globe, Dannion imparts a
paramount message designed to empower his listeners, teaching them step by
step how to find purpose, power and greatness in their lives. Dannion has
been praised as ‘the best orator in the field’ by many of his compeers on
the lecture circuit. His lighthearted and uproariously humorous delivery
makes his lecture and workshop presentations much in demand.
Due to Dannion’s vast array
of knowledge in the area of death and dying, he has made an appearance on
every major national television and radio show. He has been a guest on the
Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as Larry King, Dateline, Unsolved Mysteries, the
Art Bell Show, The Allan Handelman Show, The Pax Network, the Wisdom Channel and many, many others too
numerous to mention. A made for television movie based on Dannion’s best
seller, Saved By The Light, debuted as one of the
highest rated television movies in FOX Television Network history. This
exceptional movie is currently airing on a regular basis on the Lifetime
Network.
Brinkley
is one of the early crusaders of hospice and palliative care bringing the
topic of end of life care to the forefront of discussion and
education in America. Dannion formed a non-profit organization,
Compassion in Action to recruit hospice volunteers for dying Veterans.
Dannion has been a hospice volunteer for over twenty-four years, having
personally accrued more than 10,000 hours at the bedside. These years of
tremendous hands-on experience qualify him as a leading expert in the grief
and bereavement process as well as being an authority in the field of
necrophobic reduction.
On October 11th
Dannion provided testimony, “Describing Death in America”
to the National Cancer Advisory Board of the Institute of Medicine. Dannion
also presented comment, twice, to the White House Commission on
Complementary and Alternative Medical Policy, on “Improving End of
Life care with Complementary and Alternative Medicines and “You
Cannot Drug A Child to Safety: Ways of Reducing Stress in
America”.
In 2001, Dannion
was nominated for
the National Hospice
and Palliative
Care Association's prestigious
Heart of Hospice Award. Dannion has also supplied support in the
story compilation of Chicken Soup for the Veteran’s Soul. His
contribution was used to improve awareness of the honor of veteran service.
Compassion in Action was chosen to be included in the December
2000 issue of The Oprah Magazine segment on Volunteerism.
