back, somehow, emotionally, 
they feel an even trade is made...
one that may not occur else 
where in their lives.

"They sublimely feel they are
buying back into the family."

Before you go over your
budgets, please realize
nurse Sherri's advice.

"People often overshop in 
hopes to REALLY please 
another when they can't seem 
to do so by just being themselves."

Please know this...there are no 
"perfect" gifts...other than your 
very presence!

PEANUT BUTTER DRIVE-BYS

Dear Mary Ellen,

I read how you, your friend and 
other readers have helped people 
in need on the streets.

It inspired me, so I went out to 
look for a homeless man  
I see on my lunch hour.

I asked him what he would like 
for the winter and he said, "socks."

I asked, "Is that all?"
and he replied "yes" 
- how humble he was.  

So you see MaryEllen you are 
a gift to us straight from heaven - 
you remind us that little acts of 
kindness make a world of 
difference in people lives.

Dear Mary Ellen,

Oh my goodness!

I don't know when I've been 
so touched by such a simple 
thing as peanut butter, a loaf 
of bread, applesauce and raisins.  

What a marvelous idea.  

>From now on I am going to 
drive around with them in my 
car to pass out to those who 
are begging for money. 

By giving them food I know 
I will be making a difference!

Her 100th birthday would have been Sunday

          Celebrating

On November 11th (11/11hehe) 
I went to buy a birthday cake for 
my mother.

I picked out an Angelfood cake, 
and a large sandwich for myself, 
paid for them, and left the store. 

Outside I saw a homeless man 
who had nothing but his clothes 
and a smile on his face. 

As I passed, he very politely asked 
if I had any food or money to spare. 

I smiled right back at him and 
handed him my sandwich.  

He smiled even bigger and said,
"God bless you."

I said "No, God bless YOU".  

I walked away with a good feeling in 
my heart. Oh and the time it was when 
this happened-- 11:11am.

Eye Exercises and True Insight

Dear Mary Ellen,
I always look forward to receiving 
your newsletters and often find 
myself reading them with tears in my eyes. 
Your last letter found tears in 
my eyes for another reason.
I returned home from a frustrating 
and upsetting eye doctor visit, 
more worried about my bad 
eyesight than I have ever been.  
I've been having difficulty seeing 
clearly lately and this second visit 
to the doctor in one month proved 
as unhelpful as the first.  
I am a professor at SCSU and
teach Italian Literature and Language
so it is impossible to give my eyes 
their needed rest.
Imagine my amazement when I 
opened your newsletter to find
information on improving eyesight!
I felt the angels heard my prayers 
and I'm not surprised they sent a 
message through you!  
I'm doing the exercises faithfully-- 
and even if it doesn't improve
my eyesight, I know that at least 
I've been given the gift of true 
insight into the wonder of it all.

 TIME TO HELP THIS EARTH ANGEL

In our December 4th newsletter, we 
printed Larry Wasielewski's story 
of the" Spirit of Christmas Society" from 
"A Christmas Filled With Miracles."

Two days after Thanksgiving, Larry 
underwent a12 hour brain surgery.
Soon after surgery, his lungs 
filled with fluid and the site of 
the surgery began bleeding so 
his sister put him on the prayer list. 
Within 24 hours, he was stable 
and within 48 hours he was able 
to breathe on his own! 
Larry's right side is paralyzed 
and his speech is strained.
Larry could use our prayers to assist
him in his healing and if you have
an extra Christmas card ...  it
would tickle him to hear from you.
